Unless you’re a model or and actor, chances are things will be a bit stiff and uncomfortable at the start of a photo shoot and that’s ok! The majority of clients, even if they have done a professional photo session before, are going to need a bit of encouragement to open up and relax in front of the camera.
For first-timers it can be especially awkward. They don’t know me and I don’t know them, but I do my best to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. I find it best to take a not-so-serious approach to my sessions and I have a lot of fun connecting with and getting to know the people I’m photographing. The magic happens when my clients start to have fun and act natural in front of the camera. I find that being self-deprecating helps a lot and the power of tickles is unrivalled!
This session was the very first professional photo session ever for this family! Can you believe it?! BAM! They nailed it!
